Ashcan Clay is a studio-based ceramics program rooted in New York’s long-standing tradition of fine art education. As part of the Ashcan Studio of Art community, Ashcan has spent decades building a creative environment where students of all ages can develop artistic skills through hands-on learning, thoughtful instruction, and personal expression.

With four studio locations across New York, Ashcan has become known for its supportive, artist-centered approach to education. Our ceramics program goes beyond casual craft classes by combining technical foundation, design, and creative exploration in a professional studio setting.

From beginner workshops to multi-week courses and private events, classes are designed to welcome both first-time students and continuing artists. Whether working on the wheel, hand-building with clay, or exploring surface and glazing techniques, students are encouraged to slow down, experiment, and build confidence through the process of making.
